Tumblbees - gather round whilst I weave you a tale of THINGS…

Just had a visit from a Code Compliance Officer, I was away for a while a couple of months ago and the grass in my front yard went crazy (properly, Florida doomgrass. I mean it was knee high to someone with really high knees). He came over to take pictures of the back yard to make sure it was all sorted, as he walked through the house he clocked my ridiculous Star Wars collection and told me his son was a huge fan, left home, got married and still has tubs of figures at the house and he’s on the verge of throwing them out. Of course, my brain explodered and I suggested that he might throw them out into my house, to which he chuckled (proper Grandad chuckle - he had white hair and *everything*) and said if his son doesn’t want them any more, and he doesn’t think he does (because WHAT?) then he’ll give them to me. I know. Man.

So as he leaves we chat at the front door for a moment about Yoda and if he was really old when he was born, and then shakes my hand, pats me on the shoulder and shouts ‘It’s a pleasure, James! I’ll be back soon with toys!’ and walks to his car. Across the road I see a neighbor peering through the blinds - probably the one that called the Officer in the first place :)

Made me think of the bit in the original ‘Fright Night’ when Charlie comes home to find the vampire sitting his living room, chatting with his mum. Sort of. You know what I mean? GOOD STUFF! x
